Abstract
The article is devoted to identifying the current challenges to the creation and organization of career
centers as an organizational structure designed to provide support to students in finding a job. Based on the
analysis of foreign studies, the possibilities of adapting the foreign experience of career centers to domestic
realities were clarified.
The article analyzes the term “professional career” and its modern interpretation from various
scientific perspectives: psychology, sociology, and pedagogy. Modern conditions are changing approaches to
the process of building a professional career, in particular for young people. The question of the need to
create conditions for the formation of certain competencies of a young person, to help them realize their need
and ways to ensure them has led to the search for ways to solve the problem of accompanying a young
person in finding a job. It is defined that such support should be comprehensive at all levels: state,
institutional, collective and personal.
It has been found that at the state level this problem is raised as the main task of youth policy:
supporting young people in the implementation of professional development and employment. At the
institutional level, it is about creating and organizing the activities of a special organizational structure in a
higher education institution. Such a structure is common in foreign higher educational institutions. The
effectiveness of its work is confirmed by experience and economic effect.
The Professional Career Center is considered as a subdivision, in particular a separate one, of an
educational institution, which main purpose is to provide comprehensive support to students and graduates in
career development and to provide services and programs for career planning and development. Such
services will help students to identify and achieve their career goals. The Career Center serves as a bridge
between the educational institution and the labor market, between students and employers. From the
standpoint of the activity-based approach to the realization of the professional career of a future specialist,
the various forms and directions of the Career Center`s activities are considered.
